THE PROBLEM

Accidental injury is the number one cause of death among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Also, each year one out of every four children needs medical attention for an accidental injury.

The SOLUTION :

Safe Kids Kalamazoo County is one of more than 300 grassroots coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico that bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families. Safe Kids Kalamazoo County is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing accidental injury.

We know our efforts are needed because as many as 90 percent
of accidental injuries
can be prevented.

What We Do

Safe Kids Kalamazoo County seeks to reduce the number of preventable childhood deaths and injuries by uniting diverse groups and individuals to:

Educating adults and children
Creating safe environments
Conducting research
Advocating for effective laws

Over 80 members and 30 involved organizations serve Safe Kids Kalamazoo County in the following action groups:

Child Passenger Safety
Home Safety
Pedestrian Safety
Poison Prevention
Sports Safety
Water Safety
